Job description
Job Title: Electrician – Irrigation & General Electrical Systems
Location: Mkushi
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to perform electrical works on centre pivot irrigation systems, including pivot wiring, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), control panels, and general electrical installations and maintenance. The ideal candidate will support both irrigation operations and general facility electrical needs, ensuring all systems run efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, wire, and maintain centre pivot irrigation systems, including pivot wiring and electrical troubleshooting.
Configure, install, and maintain Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) for pump and motor controls.
Assemble, wire, test, and repair electrical panels and control systems.
Perform general electrical works on buildings, equipment, lighting, and other infrastructure.
Diagnose faults and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime.
Interpret and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Carry out preventive maintenance and routine inspections on all electrical systems.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical standards.
Maintain clear and accurate maintenance logs and reports.
Collaborate with operations teams to schedule and prioritize electrical work.
Qualifications & Experience:
Grade 12 Certificate.
Minimum Craft Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in irrigation electrical systems with a focus on centre pivots and pivot wiring.
Experience with VSD programming, installation, and maintenance.
Proficient in general electrical works, including installations, fault finding, and repairs.
Familiarity with motor control systems, electrical protection devices, and wiring standards.
Valid electrical practicing license (where applicable).
