About the Company:

KoBold Metals Zambia Limited is a leading Zambian-led mineral exploration company exploring the ore deposits that will become the next generation of new mines in Zambia.  KoBold Metals Zambia is the Zambian affiliate of KoBold Metals, a global company that invents and applies artificial intelligence to find mineral deposits worldwide.

KoBold Metals Zambia is building a rapidly growing team of Zambian geologists, operators, and executives to find and develop exploration opportunities and mineral resources drawing upon KoBold’s technology and the expertise of colleagues worldwide.  In the Copperbelt at Chililabombwe, KoBold Metals Zambia is developing the Mingomba deposit into a world-class mine.

Reporting to the Geology Manager

Key responsibilities

Design, implement and lead work programs including regional geochemical surveys, regional geophysical surveys and exploration and resource definition drilling.
Ensure that geological fieldwork is conducted following safety protocols, regulations, and industry best practices, emphasizing a strong safety culture on-site and a care for communities within which we work.
Conduct geological assessments, core logging, and field studies and guide the work of Exploration Geologists in field programs.
Analyze geological data and interpret results to provide insights on controls on mineralization and the ability to collect data relevant to these controls.
Prepare detailed geological reports or presentations, including findings, interpretations, and recommendations.
Present complex geological data and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Implement quality control mechanisms and monitoring to ensure data is collected to a very high standard.
Collaborate closely with Data Science and Engineering colleagues to aid development of new tools and guide data analysis.
Assist the regional generative team to identify and assess new opportunities.
Conduct thorough reviews of project proposals.
Contribute to multiple projects, including balancing new opportunity generation and management of one or more active projects.
Manage and mentor junior geologists and field staff, providing guidance and support in day-to-day tasks, geological techniques, and professional development.
Work closely with drilling, operations, engineering, geohydrology, geotechnical, geometallurgy and other technical teams to integrate geological data into broader project frameworks.

Qualifications and skills:

Bachelor’s degree in geology, a higher qualification is desirable but not a prerequisite.
At least 7 years post qualification experience.
Experience in drilling in complex environments
Expertise in creating and using maps, cross sections and models to visualize geoscience data in 2D and 3D
Good insights to structural geology, particularly in the context of rift systems
Good knowledge of ore systems.
Experience in using a GIS package and geological modelling package
A good working  knowledge of any programming language (e.g. python) is desirable
Some underground mining experience is desirable
