Key Responsibilities

The key functions of the role will include but not limited to;

Financial Reporting Outputs

Daily preparation of the cash positions
Daily posting of financial transactions onto accounting software
Perform the recording, updating and maintenance of Fixed Asset Register and Asset labeling.
Collection of receipts from suppliers once payments are made.
Handling and management petty cash and cash reconciliations according to the Authority policies.
Reconciliation and monitoring of  Imprest
Filing of all financial records in a timely manner with ease for future references
Assist in the generating of monthly expenditure management reports.
Assisting the Accountant Expenditure in preparation of payments to both internal and external parties.
Perform periodic reconciliation of Supplier statements, for general suppliers and accredited health care providers.
Traction and forecast all payables to Vendors to manage the timing, approval, and preparation for their settlement.
Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations on all the Authority operations bank accounts.
Perform monthly balance sheet – control accounts reconciliations and validation.
Assist in computing statutory Returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other any other statutory requirements,
Assist in implementing controls and report control deficiencies to enhance accountability in the utilization of resources.
Assist in the preparation of Year End Statutory Financial Statement for the Authority.
Perform other tasksas may be directedby the Accountant Expenditure, Senior Accountant and/or Manager Finance.

Systems, Processes and Risk Management

Assists in coordinating Internal & external audits of the Authority,
Assist in coordination with other departments during internal and external audits,
Coordinates follow-up actions for all gaps identified in audits,
Establishing internal controls in order to enhance accountability in the utilization of resource,
Processes payments in a timely manner due to health care providers for provision of health care insured services, and
Enhance General Control Environment of the Authority

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Accountancy Degree or Professional qualification i.e. ZICA /ACCA/CIMA Finalist
Grade Twelve (12) School certificate or its equivalent with Credits or better which should include Mathematics and English Language,
Minimum of Three (2) years relevant work experience, and
Certification in computer literacy

Competencies required for this Role

Must be an effective communicator and should have high knowledge of finance
Must be a critical thinker
Must be skilful in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and proficient in Accounting applications (SAGE 300, Navision etc).
Must show good understanding practical understanding of a good control environment
Must have good interpersonal skills and organisational skills; and
Must have excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize.
