Job description

Purpose of the role:
To supervise the Heavy Equipment Repair Mechanical team, and to assign tasks to subordinates by giving work procedures in accordance with Hitachi standards for achievement of company goals and objectives.

REPORTS TO: MECHANICAL COORDINATOR
BRANCH: KALUMBILA

DURATION: 1 YEAR (Renewable)

Key Responsibilities
The H.E.R Supervisor will be responsible for the following tasks;

• Ensure Health and Safety standards, Regulations and Procedures are adhered to at all times.
• Participate in safety meetings.
• Work hand in hand with the Safety officer to ensure all incidents on the task are reported, remedial measures enforced and appropriate safety training conducted.
• Delegate daily jobs to subordinates.
• Ensure subordinates are familiarized on equipment, safety quality and tools used in the mechanical section.
• Supervise the mechanical team and ensure that all troubleshooting, general maintenance and other tasks are completed to Hitachi’s high QA/QC standard.
• Ensure that all technical related issues are reported to Management.
• Ensure workshop equipment are inspected and maintained in good working condition.
• Ensure team members achieve all performance objectives.
• Ensure daily reports are completed and submitted to the Manager.
• Ensure all queries are quickly and effectively resolved to improve on customer satisfaction.
• Conduct coaching and mentoring on team members.
• Ensure training needs of subordinates are identified and submitted to relevant sections.
• Implement a continuous improvement culture among team members.
• Ensure that good housekeeping is always maintained.
• Ensure that JSA is correctly filled and signed.
• Collaborate with safety department to ensure that all subordinates have all the required permits.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Minimum of an Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair
• Diploma in Heavy Equipment Repair/Mechanical engineering from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
• Zambia Qualifications Authority Validated Qualifications.
• Minimum experience of 5 years on heavy equipment machinery in a mining environment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Practicing Member of EIZ.

• Knowledge of the use of parts and service manuals
• Fundamentals of Electricity Knowledge
• Fundamentals Hydraulics Knowledge
• Excellent people Management Skills and team Building
• Good communication skills with supervisory experience
• Problem Solving and analytical skills (After failure analysis)
• Cost Awareness
