Local Safety Officer

Job description

Job Summary:

The Local Safety Officer ensures the safety of all workers and operations on-site by monitoring safety practices, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor Safety Practices:

Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety standards are followed.
Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions.

Safety Training:

Provide safety training to employees, including proper use of equipment and PPE.
Ensure all workers are aware of emergency procedures and protocols.

Incident Reporting:

Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near misses.
Prepare reports on incidents and recommend improvements.

Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure compliance with local safety laws and regulations.
Maintain safety records and documentation for audits.

Emergency Response:

 Assist in emergency drills and provide first aid when needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education: A safety-related qualification is preferred.
Experience: Experience in safety or health roles, ideally in mining or industrial settings.
Skills: Good knowledge of safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Communication: Strong ability to communicate safety guidelines to all workers.
