In Support of the Musele Chiefdom Business Association (MCBA)

Prospero Limited, in support of the Musele Chiefdom Business Association (MCBA), is seeking a qualified, proactive, and experienced Procurement Lead to support the establishment and operation of its Buying House in Kalumbila, North-Western Province.

Position: Procurement Lead
Organization: Prospero Limited (supporting Musele Chiefdom Business Association – MCBA)
Location: Kalumbila, North-Western Province, Zambia
Engagement: 1 Year (Renewable Contract)
Job Type: Contract

Role Overview:

The Procurement Lead will play a pivotal role in establishing, managing, and driving the operational success of the MCBA Buying House in Kalumbila. The role oversees end-to-end procurement processes, supplier engagement, supply chain operations, and compliance with high-standard procurement ethics and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operational establishment and day-to-day procurement operations of the Buying House.
  • Source, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers, local enterprises, and key business partners.
  • Manage procurement cycles including requisitioning, quotation requests, supplier evaluations, contracting, and order fulfillment.
  • Ensure strict adherence to procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and international best practices.
  • Support local enterprise development by building the capacity of local vendors within the Musele Chiefdom and North-Western Province.
  • Maintain detailed procurement databases, inventory tracking, and transparent reporting systems.
  • Provide strategic procurement advice and operational reports to management and association leadership.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIPS Graduate Diploma / Level 6).
  • Must be an active, fully paid-up member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) with a valid practicing license.
  • At least 5 years of progressive procurement experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership, supervisory, or managerial role.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supply chain management skills.
  • Familiarity with community enterprise initiatives, mining supply chains, or development partner-funded projects is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
