About the company

Yorks Electrical Limited has provided electrical engineering and contracting services in Zambia since 2001. Based in Lusaka, the company works across electrical installations and maintenance, solar solutions, industrial systems, generator services, petrol station systems and infrastructure projects.

The role

We are seeking a Sales and Marketing Officer to develop new business for Yorks Electrical Limited, promote its electrical engineering and contracting services, and maintain strong client relationships. The successful candidate will identify opportunities, coordinate with technical colleagues on suitable solutions and quotations, and follow enquiries through to award and delivery.

Sales and business development

· Identify and approach prospective commercial, industrial, institutional and individual clients who need electrical installations, maintenance, solar, generator and related services.

· Build and maintain a pipeline through client visits, calls, referrals, networking and appropriate digital channels.

· Understand client requirements, arrange technical assessments where needed, and work with the technical team to prepare accurate proposals, quotations and tender submissions.

· Follow up on quotations and tenders, negotiate within approved terms, and work towards agreed sales targets.

· Maintain accurate records of leads, client meetings, quotations, tender deadlines, outcomes and follow up actions.

Marketing and client relationships

· Help plan and deliver marketing activities that present the company’s services, completed work and capabilities accurately.

· Prepare clear promotional content for approved channels and coordinate updates with management and technical staff.

· Monitor market opportunities, competitor activity and client needs, and recommend practical ways to grow enquiries and sales.

· Maintain relationships with existing clients, seek repeat business and respond promptly to enquiries and service feedback.

· Coordinate with operations and project teams to confirm scope, timelines and handover requirements before commitments are made to clients.

· Prepare weekly activity updates and monthly reports on leads, quotations, conversions and marketing results.

Qualifications and skills

· Diploma in Sales and Marketing, Business, Public Relations or a related field. A degree is an advantage.

· At least two years of relevant sales or marketing experience, preferably in electrical, engineering, construction, solar or technical services.

· Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and customer service skills.

· Ability to understand technical offerings, work with specialists, prepare proposals and follow through on client opportunities.

· Good computer skills, initiative, organisation and accurate record keeping.

Current registration or membership with the Zambia Institute of Marketing is an added advantage at shortlisting. The successful candidate must meet applicable professional registration requirements before practising marketing.
