National Museums Board (NMB) is a Statutory Board under the Ministry of Tourism whose mandate is to establish, develop and manage dynamic and sustainable national museums for the preservation and interpretation of Movable heritage for the benefit of the present and future generation.

6. ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

Type of Employment – Permanent and Pensionable
Location – Choma Museum and Crafts Center

Job Purpose
To assist prepare and maintain all accounting transaction records in order to facilitate adherence to financial regulations and accountability.

Main Duties

▫ Processing invoices, receipts, payment vouchers and other financial transactions.
▫ Maintaining accurate accounting records and filing financial documents.
▫ Performing bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.
▫ Assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable and cashbook functions.
▫ Posting transactions into the accounting system.
▫ Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reports and schedules.
▫ Monitoring receivables and payables and following up outstanding balances.
▫ Supporting internal and external audit processes.
▫ Ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
▫ Undertaking timely collection of revenue and banking

Qualifications/Requirements

▫ Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent with at least five (5) credits, including English and Mathematics.
▫ Diploma in Accountancy or an equivalent recognized accounting qualification.
▫ ZICA Licentiate, ACCA or CIMA qualifications/part-qualification will be an added advantage.
▫ Must be a paid up member of the Zambia Institute Chartered Accountants (ZICA) where applicable
