Chalimbana University invites applications for Chief Financial Officer, a senior management position reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and responsible for directing the University’s finance and accounting functions.

JOB PURPOSE
Provide strategic leadership in financial management, accounting, budgeting, treasury management, internal controls, financial reporting, audit coordination and policy development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead preparation and review of financial strategies, budgets, plans, forecasts and work plans
• Oversee accurate financial statements, management accounts and statutory reports
• Lead financial planning, analysis and forecasting to support sustainability and value for money
• Manage budgeting and budgetary-control systems
• Control cash flow, treasury operations, banking arrangements and resource utilisation
• Develop and maintain effective internal-control systems
• Coordinate internal and external audits and implementation of recommendations
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
• Lead, supervise and develop Finance and Accounting staff
• Promote accountability, transparency, ethical conduct, innovation and continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Grade 12 Certificate with at least five credits including English
• Full professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA/CA Zambia or equivalent
• Master’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• ZICA membership in good standing
• At least ten years’ relevant post-qualification experience, including five years at senior management level
• Experience in reporting, planning, budgeting, treasury, internal controls, audits and financial policy
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, public-finance requirements, taxation, governance and risk management
• University, public-institution or large-complex-organisation experience is an advantage
• Proficiency in accounting software, financial-management systems and Microsoft Office

TERMS
Three-year performance-based contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and operational requirements.
