Job description

Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited provides water and sanitation services in Chingola, Mufulira and Chililabombwe and is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Carry out customer-service functions in assigned areas by taking accurate meter readings for correct billing and distribution to metered customers.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lift, load and unload tools and equipment as directed.
• Read and record water meters using the Meter Reading App or provided sheets, take clear meter photographs and record account status.
• Verify abnormal consumption readings and explain fluctuations.
• Distribute disconnection notices to customers with overdue bills.
• Respond to simple field queries and record complex matters for supervisor action and timely feedback.
• Record unmetered properties.
• Carry out water disconnections and reconnections.
• Conduct random checks for illegal reconnections.
• Sensitise customers on digital payment methods.
• Inspect meters for unauthorised connections, defects and damage.
• Update client addresses, contact numbers and meter-location coordinates.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Five O-Level School Certificate.
• At least one year of experience in meter reading, field operations, customer service, data collection or a similar role is an added advantage.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle customer queries and explain meter readings or consumption issues.
• Basic computer and mobile-device literacy.
