Job description

Organizational Profile

Performance Insurance Brokers Limited is a wholly Zambian owned insurance brokerage, licensed by the Pensions and Insurance Authority and a member of the Bridging Gap Solutions group. We were incorporated in December 2010 to offer a full range of brokerage services to individuals, families and corporate clients.

Job Summary: 

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving business growth, managing key client relationships, and overseeing critical operational functions within Performance Insurance Brokers. The role will lead the development and implementation of business development strategies, ensure effective management of the claims and underwriting functions, and support the achievement of departmental and organizational targets.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

• Develop and oversee the implementation of the operational strategy

• Oversee the function of the claims and underwriting functions

• Ensure that all quotations are processed within the expected turnaround time

• Ensure all claims processed are processed and closed within the expected turnaround time

• Ensure all claims and quotations are processed from the system

• Provide weekly reports with regards to Claims processed and quotations processed with notes on any matters arising in the unit.

Business Development

• Generation of leads up to closing of the business

• Give weekly update on the pipeline follow ups

• Prepare and submit tenders for tendered business

• Give weekly update on tenders being worked on

• Ensure that Departmental targets broken down into quarterly targets are met

Key Account Management

• Identify and prepare a list of key accounts

• Develop and implement a key account management strategy

• Schedule visits for key accounts

• Prepare weekly reports for key account, management activities (Visits, meetings and other engagements.)

• Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 certificate

• Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Risk Management or a related field. 

• Professional qualification in Insurance, preferably CII, IIZA or an equivalent recognized insurance qualification.

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in insurance, business development, sales, underwriting, claims or insurance broking, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. 

• Demonstrable experience in business development, lead generation, tender preparation, sales pipeline management and closing new business. 

• Strong knowledge of general insurance products, underwriting, claims management and insurance broking practices. 

• Experience in key account management and corporate client relationship management. 

• Good understanding of Zambian insurance regulations and industry practices. 

• IIZA membership will be an added advantage, particularly given the professional nature of insurance practice in Zambia. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance management/CRM systems. 

• Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, networking and report-writing skills.
