Job description
Are You the Ultimate Growth Driver We’re Looking For?
At Brands Africa, we don’t just move products we shape culture. We are an ABCD (Agile, Bold, Connected, and Dynamic) organization where entrepreneurship thrives and boundaries are broken. Our workplace culture is anchored on ownership, energetic collaboration, and high accountability. We don’t believe in just filling roles; we believe in finding cultural matches who live our values every single day.
The Role: Sales Representatives (2 Vacancies – Wholesale Specialists)
Location: Lusaka, Zambia 🇿🇲
Primary Trading Hubs: Kamwala, Chaisa, Soweto, and Freedom Way
Department: Commercial Division
Reports To: Sales and Ops Supervisor
Reference Number: BA/CM/005/26
Are you someone who:
- Walks into a chaotic wholesale market and immediately identifies key high-volume traders and shelf space opportunities?
- Can navigate high-turnover trading hubs like Soweto and Kamwala while strategically routing your calls to maximize bulk sales?
- Has the commercial grit to manage fast-paced wholesale transactions, complex breakage claims, and physically chase down overdue store debt?
- Is a high-energy extrovert who thrives on the hustle of informal and formal trading networks but delivers weekly, data-backed results?
If you answered yes, you are exactly who we want.
Performance Indicators & Cultural Fit
Performance Metrics
- Wholesale Target Mastery: Meeting aggressive quarterly product volume quotas while avoiding the traps of under-stocking (losing floor space to competitors) or over-stocking.
- The 100x100x100 Standard: Securing 100% of agreed bulk stock lines, in 100% of designated wholesale and retail outlets, 100% of the time.
- Rigorous Reporting Lifecycle: Generating and tracking accurate Weekly Sales Analyses, Fortnightly Sales Trackers (by customer and SKU), and Monthly Reports for the Sales and Ops Supervisor.
Cultural Alignment
- Agile & Bold: Active on the ground in Lusaka’s busiest trading centers, making fast decisions on product quantities based on localized wholesale buying habits.
- Connected & Dynamic: Acting as a steady, reliable bridge between internal Credit Control, Warehouse Logistics, and major high-volume traders.
- Continuous Improvement Mindset: Operating through a strict loop of feedback and corrective action to optimize routes, resolve trader grievances rapidly, and protect gross margins.
What You Will Actually Do
Drive Bulk Sales & Smart Market Routing
You will check warehouse stock availability, map efficient call routes across primary wholesale zones, and secure high-value orders. You are fully accountable for introducing product innovations and maintaining dominant wholesale footprints.
Oversee In-Market Merchandising
You will manage, guide, and assess on-site merchandisers in busy trading areas. You ensure shelf and floor presentations are immaculate, pricing modules comply with agreed structures, and corrective actions are raised instantly.
Quality Control & Credit Support
You will visit high-turnover outlets to inspect quarantined stock for poor packaging or water damage, negotiating fair claims. Because cash flow is king, you will collaborate directly with Credit Control to physically visit and clear overdue debtor accounts before writing new orders.
Market Intelligence & Trader Mediation
You will conduct face-to-face interviews with wholesale buyers, key traders, and end-users to capture shifting market trends. You will apply collaborative conflict resolution to fix customer complaints and supply-chain friction points rapidly.
Credentials & Expertise
Academic Qualifications
- Minimum Requirement: A-Levels accompanied by a Sales & Marketing Diploma.
- Added Advantage: A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Mandatory License: Valid Driver’s License.
Experience & Toolkits
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a frontline sales position within the FMCG sector.
- Proven, specialized experience operating within a high-volume wholesale environment.
- Deep commercial familiarity with the major Lusaka trading hubs (Kamwala, Chaisa, Soweto, Freedom Way) and their local consumer purchasing behaviors.
- Demonstrated mastery in persuasive bulk selling, volume forecasting, and cash collection.
Behavioral Attributes
- High-energy extrovert of a steady, resilient nature who thrives under the intense pressure of high-volume calls and market targets.
- Exceptional team player who values individual accountability and works seamlessly across departments.
⚠️ IMPORTANT APPLICATION NOTE
⚠️ ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WHO MEET ALL THE ABOVE CRITERIA (INCLUDING SPECIFIC FMCG WHOLESALE EXPERIENCE AND LUSAKA TRADING KNOWLEDGE) MUST APPLY FOR THIS ROLE. INCOMPLETE OR UNQUALIFIED APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
