Job description
WWF Zambia is recruiting a Resource Acquisition Manager based in Lusaka.
Major Function
The Resource Acquisition Manager is responsible for resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, and donor agreement management. The role leads the identification, pursuit, and development of funding opportunities for WWF Zambia, maintains a strong donor pipeline, coordinates proposal development processes, and secures resources aligned with conservation priorities.
Key Responsibilities
– Develop, implement, monitor, and keep up to date WWF Zambia’s fundraising strategy and annual work plans.
– Conduct donor and potential funding mapping and provide donor intelligence.
– Lead proposal development from capture to negotiation in collaboration with the Conservation Director and relevant staff.
– Ensure concepts and proposals meet donor requirements and align with WWF Zambia’s strategy and conservation priorities.
– Work closely with the Finance team on proposal budgeting and quality assurance.
– Identify, research, develop, and maintain strategic partnerships with public sector, private sector, and individual donors.
– Position WWF Zambia as a partner of choice for new funding modalities, direct awards, trust funds, tenders, and consortium partnerships.
– Lead development and maintenance of effective relationships with current and prospective donors.
– Facilitate signing of donor agreements and MOUs with local partners.
– Monitor grant and project compliance with donor requirements.
– Build staff and partner capacity in proposal development and grants management.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
– Master’s Degree in Business Management, Law, Marketing, International Relations, Business Communication, Development Studies, or a related field.
– At least 10 years of proven experience in business development, sales, financial resource mobilization, or key account management.
– At least 5 years designing, developing, and fundraising for transformational projects with INGOs, NGOs, not-for-profits, or in a leadership role within an international development organization or complex matrix environment.
– Experience developing and writing project proposals for public sector, foundations, corporate sponsors, and other philanthropic actors.
– Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
– Knowledge of conservation and development issues, donor strategies, funding instruments, and contract administration.
– Successful track record cultivating funding partnerships across sectors.
– Experience coordinating and negotiating with government and donors at all levels.
– Strong financial analysis skills, including financial dashboards, scenario planning, and business case development.
– Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, negotiation, conflict-resolution, and capacity-development skills.
