Job description

Employment Opportunity

Our Client, Softcare Zambia Limited, is seeking for two (2) competent and experienced Surveyors to join its growing team. The surveyor will be responsible for delivering accurate and reliable surveying services, ensuring the quality, precision, and integrity of surveying activities across construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform site setting-out, and topographical surveying activities in accordance with project specifications and engineering designs.
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including RTK GPS, GPS, Total Stations, and Automatic Levels, ensuring accurate measurements and data collection.
  • Interpret engineering and CAD drawings to support construction layout and execution.
  • Establish and verify survey control points, benchmarks, and reference coordinates.
  • Collect, process, analyse, and validate survey data to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Prepare accurate survey reports, field notes, drawings, and other technical documentation.
  • Monitor construction progress by verifying levels, alignments, dimensions, and positions of structures.
  • Liaise effectively with engineers, project managers, and site teams to resolve surveying and setting-out issues.
  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Maintain and safeguard surveying instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and in good working condition.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma /Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Geomatics Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience in construction or civil engineering surveying (or as required by the employer).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating RTK GPS, GPS, Total Stations, and Automatic Levels.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from CAD drawings, engineering plans, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using surveying software and data processing applications will be an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of survey computations, coordinate systems, and construction setting-out techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, skills.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
