Job description
Job Description: Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Livingstone, Zambia
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive (based on experience)
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel. The successful candidate will bring strong carpentry skills alongside general maintenance knowledge to ensure the hotel remains safe, functional, and visually appealing at all times.
Key Responsibilities
· Communicate plans for upper-level improvements and preventative maintenance to the Operations Manager.
- Oversee all maintenance operations across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house.
- Carry out carpentry and joinery work, including repairs to furniture, doors, fittings, and fixtures.
- Plan and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
- Supervise and support the maintenance team and coordinate external contractors when required.
- Ensure prompt response to maintenance issues to minimise disruption to guests.
- Maintain health & safety standards and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Manage tools, materials, and stock efficiently.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain property standards.
· Maintain maintenance supplies and inventory.
· Supervise and schedule the activity of Maintenance Operatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in hotel or property maintenance, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Strong carpentry/joinery skills (essential).
- Broad knowledge of general maintenance (plumbing, basic electrical, painting, etc.).
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and lead a large maintenance team.
- Good understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented.
