Job description

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Zambia is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the position of Finance Manager.

DAPP Zambia is a local registered NGO and has been operating in Zambia for 40 years. Currently working across all 10 provinces, reaching over 1 million people with development projects and employing more than 1,000 staff. Thematic areas include agriculture, environment, climate change adaptation and mitigation, health, education and integrated community development. As a member of the Federation Humana People to People, it receives technical support and also runs a fundraising enterprise of selling second-hand clothes and shoes donated from Europe.

The Finance Manager provides a fundamental role in supporting the overall donor accounting functionality and grants financial compliance for assigned partnerships.

The Finance Manager will be based in Ndola at the DAPP Head Quarters Economy and Administration (E&A) Office and will report to the Chief Financial Manager.

 Key Responsibilities:

(a) Supervise the finance staff assigned to the assigned partnerships ensuring that all financial processes are in line with DAPP and the relevant partner guidelines and policies.

(b) Provide the leadership direction and coordination of closing-the-month processes and ensuring accurate financial record keeping and reporting in line with International Accounting Standards, partner/donor regulations and statutory standards and manuals.

(c) Ensure that all transactions are adequately processed through the SAGE 300 ERP system as well as creating and managing the chart of accounts for the assigned Projects within the financial system.

(d) Provide support to the Project Leadership/ Management Teams to ensure all procedures related to finance management and procurement is implemented on the local levels according to finance best practices and DAPP policies.

(e) Oversee sub-contracts and sub-grants to local partners including capacity building of the sub-grantees.

(f)  Oversee cash flow management and provide budget recommendations for assigned projects.

(g) Adequately manage project’s assets.

(h) Ensure compliance with requirements in contracts, statutes and other regulations, guidelines and instructions from funding partners.

Qualifications & Experience:

(i)    Bachelor of Accountancy degree, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CA Zambia or equivalent.

(ii)   Must be at least an Associate member of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA), holding a valid practising licence.

(iii)  At least 5 years of experience in financial management for large operations, including a minimum of 2 years in the development sector.

(iv)  Extensive knowledge of financial accounting packages such as SAGE 300 ERP, PASTEL, SUN, AccPac, QuickBooks, etc.

(v)   Strong background in financial reporting, donor compliance, financial control, and management reporting.

(vi)  Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with proven ability to supervise diverse accounting teams.

(vii) Excellent communication, training, and mentoring skills to build staff capacity and foster collaboration.
