FINANCE OPERATIONS OFFICER X 1

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Operations Officer to support our finance function by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our financial operations.

Position Summary:

The Finance Operations Officer will play a key role in supporting eShandi’s day-to-day financial operations by managing reconciliations, financial accounting, management reporting, and operational finance processes. The successful candidate will ensure that financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported while supporting process improvements, regulatory compliance, and financial controls across the business.

This role is ideal for an ambitious finance professional with strong accounting fundamentals and an interest in working within a fast-paced fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations

Process and review daily financial transactions.

Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger entries.

Prepare journals, accruals, and month-end adjustments.

Support month-end and year-end financial close processes.

Ensure timely processing of payments and receipts.

Reconciliations

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of:

Bank accounts

Mobile money wallets

Payment gateways

Settlement accounts

Customer loan accounts

Suspense accounts

General ledger control accounts

Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences promptly.

Monitor settlement timelines and outstanding balances.

Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly management accounts.

Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS.

Generate operational and financial performance reports.

Support budgeting and forecasting processes.

Analyse financial data and identify trends or anomalies.

Lending & Payment Operations

Reconcile loan disbursements and customer repayments.

Monitor payment settlements across multiple payment channels.

Verify interest calculations, fees, commissions, and charges.

Support finance processes related to embedded finance and digital payment products.

Assist with revenue reconciliation across business lines.

Internal Controls & Compliance

Maintain strong financial controls and ensure adherence to company policies.

Assist with internal and external audits.

Prepare supporting schedules and audit documentation.

Support statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory obligations.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to automate finance processes.

Recommend improvements to reconciliation and reporting procedures.

Assist in implementing finance systems and digital tools.

Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Operations teams to improve financial workflows.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Up to 2 years’ relevant experience in finance, accounting, banking, fintech, or financial services.

Experience in financial accounting, management accounting, or reconciliations is required.

Experience within a fintech, digital lender, bank, payment service provider, or financial institution will be an added advantage.

Professional qualification (ZICA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) is desirable.

Technical Competencies

Strong understanding of accounting principles and IFRS.

Knowledge of financial reporting and management accounting.

Experience with bank and payment reconciliations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and data analysis.

Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo).

Understanding of digital payment ecosystems, mobile money, and fintech operations is an advantage.

Familiarity with Power BI or other reporting tools is desirable.
