National Milling Corporation Limited, a leading multinational milling company specializing in the production of flour, mealie meal, stockfeed products, and rice trading, is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to fill the position of Shift Fitter in Lusaka, Zambia. About the Shift Fitter Role
The Shift Fitter will play a critical role in supporting the mechanical maintenance team by repairing, servicing, and maintaining mechanical equipment, machines, systems, and components. The primary objective is to resolve operational and technical mechanical issues promptly to minimize production downtime caused by equipment failures.
Responsibilities also include performing preventive maintenance following manufacturers’ manuals and recommendations, with a strong focus on maximizing production efficiency. The role requires planning, scheduling, and organizing daily tasks independently while coordinating with team members to prioritize and complete maintenance activities effectively.
Key Responsibilities for Shift Fitter Jobs in Lusaka
- Support the mechanical maintenance team in repairing and servicing plant machinery and equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reduce breakdowns.
- Plan and organize daily work schedules to meet production demands and maintenance priorities.
- Provide daily progress reports and feedback to supervisors, documenting any delays or issues encountered.
- Recommend corrective actions to prevent future operational disruptions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Grade 12 school certificate.
- Craft certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
