TopFloor, a multinational engineering and construction organisation, is seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineer to lead and uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management on major infrastructure projects in Lusaka, Zambia. Role Overview: Safety Engineer Jobs in Lusaka

As the primary authority on site safety, the Safety Engineer will ensure compliance with international HSE protocols, local regulations, and company safety frameworks. The role involves overseeing risk assessments, conducting safety audits, developing incident prevention strategies, and delivering workforce safety training. The successful candidate will guarantee that all construction activities adhere to rigorous safety standards, fostering a secure and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • EHS Management & Compliance: Develop and enforce EHS management systems; supervise contractors’ safety production systems; conduct hazard identification and implement preventive measures; review and approve safety management plans; monitor machinery and vehicle operating procedures; perform daily site safety inspections and maintain detailed safety logs.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response: Participate in designing and executing emergency rescue plans and drills; supervise construction units’ emergency preparedness and report outcomes to senior engineers.
  • Safety Education & Training: Establish and monitor safety education programs; manage safety responsibility agreements; assist in organizing departmental and company-wide safety training sessions.
  • Professional Reporting & Communication: Maintain daily safety logs; actively participate in departmental meetings; share insights and continuously improve safety knowledge.
  • Documentation & Archives Management: Organize and back up safety documentation and media; ensure compliance with company regulations and support team-building activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a Safety Engineer in bridge and road projects.
  • Certification as a Safety Officer or Registered Safety Engineer.
  • Valid membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Proficiency in EHS management procedures relevant to road and bridge projects, including safety technical specifications from Zambia and China.
  • Strong skills in MS Office and digital occupational health systems.
