About the Head Coach Role at ZESCO United

The Head Coach will be responsible for directing all aspects of team preparation and performance. This includes planning and conducting training sessions, developing strategic match tactics, selecting squads, and mentoring players to achieve competitive success. The role demands close collaboration with medical and fitness staff to ensure player health and recovery while adhering strictly to FAZ, ZPL, and CAF regulations. Representing the club at media and official events will also form part of the responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver comprehensive team training sessions.
• Develop and implement match strategies and game plans.
• Select team squads and starting line-ups based on player form and fitness.
• Analyse performances of both team and opponents using advanced performance tools.
• Oversee player development, discipline, and mentorship.
• Collaborate with medical and fitness personnel on player health management and rehabilitation.
• Identify and recommend potential player recruits.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant football governing bodies’ rules and regulations.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, discipline, and strong team spirit.
• Prepare detailed performance reports for Club Management.
• Act as the Club’s representative during media engagements and official functions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Valid CAF Coaching License; CAF A or CAF Pro License preferred.
• Diploma or Degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field is advantageous.
• Strong tactical knowledge of football and expertise in performance analysis.
• Basic IT proficiency and familiarity with coaching and analysis software tools.
• 5 to 10 years of coaching experience, including 3 to 5 years at the professional football level.
