Role Overview for Assistant Applications Administrator Jobs in Lusaka

Reporting directly to the Applications Administrator, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering IT applications support services that guarantee the availability of high-quality information systems tailored to user needs. The role also involves designing and coding software tools to automate the monitoring and repair of IT applications, ensuring system resilience and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for IT applications to ensure operational continuity.
  • Develop and implement automated solutions for monitoring and repairing applications.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to address user requirements and improve system performance.
  • Apply innovative problem-solving techniques to enhance application reliability.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Strong experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SQL, and Unix/Linux command structures.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Java, C++, C#, or Python.
  • Solid knowledge of Shell scripting.
  • Ability to generate innovative solutions and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, capable of managing diverse responsibilities effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with credits in at least five subjects, including English and Mathematics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body is required.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant professional experience in IT applications support or software development.
