Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Raise Bore Supervisor will oversee all raise boring activities to ensure they are conducted safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with company policies, mine safety standards, and production objectives. The role requires proactive management of crews, equipment, and operational workflows to meet quality and output targets.

  • Supervise raise bore crews and coordinate daily operational tasks to maintain productivity.
  • Report on safety performance, production progress, equipment status, and operational challenges to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure full compliance with mine safety regulations, company procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks, workplace inspections, and risk assessments to promote a safe working environment.
  • Monitor raise boring operations to achieve production and quality standards consistently.
  • Inspect and maintain raise bore equipment, including reamers and drill strings, coordinating maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Collaborate with mine management and other departments to facilitate smooth work execution.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members to enhance performance and safety awareness.
  • Investigate incidents, unsafe acts, and delays, implementing corrective measures promptly.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related mining discipline.
  • Valid Blasting Licence, Silicosis Medical Certificate, and First Aid Certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in raise bore operations, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of underground mining safety standards and raise boring practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in report writing, planning, and record keeping.
