About the Paediatrician Neonatologist Role

As a Paediatrician Neonatologist at CFB Medical Centre, you will play a critical role in managing and treating newborns and children with a broad range of medical conditions. Your expertise will support the hospital’s mission to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to the youngest and most vulnerable patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist paediatric and neonatal care to both inpatients and outpatients.
• Manage and oversee neonatal and paediatric cases admitted to the hospital.
• Conduct regular ward rounds in the Neonatal Unit and review paediatric inpatients.
• Participate in emergency on-call services for paediatric and neonatal cases.
• Provide neonatal support during Caesarean section deliveries as required.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute, chronic, and developmental paediatric and neonatal conditions.
• Prescribe and administer treatments, medications, immunisations, and specialised interventions.
• Perform resuscitation and stabilisation of critically ill neonates, including premature and low-birth-weight infants.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records and clinical documentation.
• Communicate clearly with patients, parents, and guardians regarding treatment plans and procedures.
• Provide guidance on child health topics such as nutrition, hygiene, disease prevention, and developmental care.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Medical Doctor fully qualified with recognised specialisation in Paediatrics and Neonatology.
• At least five (5) years’ experience practicing as a Specialist Paediatrician/Neonatologist.
• Registered and licensed with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
• Proven experience in neonatal intensive care and neonatal resuscitation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong clinical judgement with the ability to manage emergencies effectively under pressure.
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Additional Advantages

• Experience working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
• Background in a tertiary or teaching hospital environment.
