Temporal Project Driver Jobs in Solwezi – Join Save the Children International

Save the Children International is seeking a dedicated Temporal Project Driver to support staff road travel and vehicle maintenance at its Solwezi office in Northwestern Zambia. This temporary role offers a four-month contract and presents an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers to contribute to a respected humanitarian organization.

About the Role – Temporal Project Driver Jobs in Solwezi

The Temporal Project Driver will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transport of office staff and visitors, maintaining the condition of vehicles, and managing fuel and vehicle-related administrative tasks. Reporting directly to the Humanitarian Project Coordinator, with a dotted line to the Procurement Officer, this position plays a vital role in supporting the operational effectiveness of Save the Children’s local projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive office staff and authorized visitors safely to assigned destinations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of all office and field vehicles at all times.
  • Manage fuel accounts and conduct fuel reconciliations for office and field vehicles.
  • Prepare monthly vehicle analysis reports to monitor usage and maintenance.
  • Conduct routine vehicle maintenance and inspection checks to ensure safety standards.
  • Assist with payments, bank withdrawals, and deposits related to vehicle operations.
  • Ensure timely statutory payments including road taxes, vehicle insurance, and fitness certificates.
  • Keep vehicle logbooks updated accurately and transfer data to the pro fleet datasheet software.
  • Prepare monthly reports on personal vehicle usage.
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and ensuring supplier child safeguarding within the supply chain.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of skills and experience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completed secondary education with a full GCE certificate.
  • Valid clean Class C driver’s license.
  • Certificate in auto mechanics or skills in minor vehicle repair is preferred; a CIPS certificate is an advantage.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in a reputable organization; experience with an international NGO is a plus.
  • Self-driven, honest, and able to work effectively under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in operating office equipment such as scanners, photocopiers, and printers.
