Role Overview: Heavy Equipment Auto-Electrician Jobs in Solwezi The Heavy Equipment Auto-Electrician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex electrical and electronic systems on a diverse fleet including Volvo, Mercedes-Benz Actros (MP4), DongFeng haulage trucks, and SDLG earthmoving machinery. This role demands precision troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to minimise operational downtime in a challenging mining and long-distance haulage environment. Key Responsibilities Utilise manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools to identify and resolve electrical faults across the fleet. Test, repair, and replace critical components such as alternators, starters, batteries, lighting systems, sensors, control panels, and wiring harnesses. Perform routine electrical inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance on heavy trucks and earthmoving equipment. Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot electronic control modules, transmission systems, and CAN bus communication networks. Support electrical maintenance of quarry plant equipment including crushers, conveyors, lighting plants, and generators. Strictly adhere to workshop safety policies, mine-site protocols, and environmental regulations within silica dust and heavy machinery environments. Prepare accurate technical reports, manage spare parts requisitions, and maintain detailed maintenance logs. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Craft Certificate or Diploma in Auto-Electrical Engineering or Heavy Equipment Repair from a recognised institution. TEVETA Trade Test certification is advantageous. At least three years of hands-on experience with Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, DongFeng heavy trucks, and SDLG earthmoving equipment. Proficient in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Working knowledge of CAN bus systems and modern truck electronics. Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
