Role Overview for Solar Technician Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical installation, testing, and commissioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This position requires hands-on expertise in wiring solar panels, inverters, and batteries, alongside troubleshooting and ensuring system compliance with national electrical codes and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and wire solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other electrical components.
  • Conduct electrical testing, commissioning, and fault diagnosis of solar PV installations.
  • Ensure adherence to national electrical codes and safety regulations throughout all projects.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and system performance reports.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members, fostering knowledge transfer.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, or a recognised electrician certification.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in electrical installation, preferably with solar PV systems.
  • Strong understanding of inverters, batteries, and grid integration processes.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as IEC and NEC, as well as local regulations.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
