Job description
- A Year 1 teacher’s job description generally involves teaching children aged 5 to 7 years and guiding them through the national or key stage 1 curriculum. The main duties include planning and preparing lessons for all subjects, encouraging pupil participation, creating and using teaching materials such as visual aids and games, and marking and assessing student work to monitor progress. The teacher also provides one-to-one support to pupils who need additional help, administers assessments and exams, and fosters the intellectual, social, and emotional development of children. They work to create a safe, engaging classroom environment that promotes a love of learning and social skills. Additionally, they liaise with parents to report on student progress and collaborate with colleagues as part of a team. Relevant soft skills include patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching young children. The role requires adherence to school policies and continuous professional development to maintain effective teaching practices
