Mobile High Voltage Instructor Jobs in Chongwe – Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of School, the Instructor will deliver comprehensive training on mobile industrial high-voltage systems, instrumentation, controls, automation, diagnostics, and safe high-voltage operations. This fixed-term contract role is based in Chongwe District, Lusaka Province, within the mining and education sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed lesson plans on diesel engine technology, hydraulic systems, drivetrain systems, telematics, diagnostics, and maintenance principles.
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on workshop training focused on high-voltage safety, isolation, switching, and commissioning procedures.
  • Provide instruction on instrumentation, sensors, CANBUS, control systems, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Supervise practical high-voltage exercises and fault-finding activities.
  • Conduct trainee assessments and maintain compliance and training records.
  • Support the development of laboratories and simulation tools.
  • Ensure all training activities comply with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Guide trainees in electrical and electronic diagnostics and demonstrate diagnostic software and measurement equipment usage.
  • Collaborate with workplace mentors to enhance on-the-job learning and validate apprentice logbooks and evidence.
  • Participate in apprentice progress reviews, moderation, audits, and accreditation processes.
  • Coach apprentices and trainees, supervise practical training, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Work Environment

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, excluding public holidays.
  • Training workshops and laboratories with occasional work at industrial partner sites.
  • Exposure to heavy equipment and outdoor fieldwork.
  • Standing and supervising trainees for extended periods.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • Diploma in Teaching Methodology.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant OEM or mining maintenance industry experience.
  • At least 2 years of instructional experience.

Required Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty equipment systems.
  • Excellent instructional and facilitation skills.
  • Proven coaching and mentorship abilities.
  • Competency in assessment and evaluation methods.

Digital Skills and Certifications

  • Proficiency with Office 365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience using virtual training platforms such as Teams or Zoom.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Advantageous certifications include TEVETA Instructor Accreditation, Train-the-Trainer, Occupational Health & Safety, and Assessor Certification.
