Job description

The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) of the African Union is inviting applications for the Kenneth Kaunda Graduate Immersion Programme 2026. The programme is hosted at the ECOSOCC Secretariat in Lusaka and is designed to equip young professionals with direct exposure to the operations of an African Union organ.

Programme Details

  • Duty Station: Lusaka, Zambia (8658 Kudu Road, Kabulonga)
  • Duration: 9 months, with possible extension to 1 year
  • Start Date: 1 August 2026
  • Employment Status: Full-Time Immersion Placement
  • Compensation: Unpaid; monthly transport stipend and logistical support provided

About ECOSOCC

  • ECOSOCC serves as the African Union’s advisory organ for civil society
  • Established in 2004 under the AU Constitutive Act
  • Connects the African Union with civil society organizations across Africa and the African Diaspora
  • Promotes citizen participation in continental governance processes

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open exclusively to Zambian graduates
  • Under 35 years of age at the time of application
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Communication, Law, or a related field
  • Qualification obtained within the last five years
  • Graduated with a Distinction or Merit classification
  • Strong analytical, research and writing skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of French or another AU working language is an added advantage
