The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the overall laboratory functions, including team leadership, quality assurance, and coordination with regulatory authorities. You will ensure that all testing activities adhere to the Southern African standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily laboratory operations and assign tasks to team members while conducting performance evaluations and staff training.
• Manage the entire laboratory workflow, including sample reception, testing, data documentation, and report preparation and review.
• Ensure strict adherence to SANS, ZS, and other Southern African testing standards and collaborate effectively with RDA supervision authorities.
• Supervise laboratory instruments, reagents, and consumables; implement routine calibration, maintenance, and inventory control.
• Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs), enforce quality control measures, and manage risk to guarantee test result accuracy and traceability.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
• Certification: Valid EIZ certificate is mandatory.
• Experience: At least 8 years of laboratory experience, including 2–3 years in supervisory or managerial roles overseeing teams of 10 or more.
• Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of SANS, ZS regional testing standards, and RDA supervision protocols.
• Skills: Proficient in laboratory operations, testing methodologies, quality control systems, and equipment maintenance.
• Communication: Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with strong coordination and problem-solving abilities.
