Mechanical Fitter Role Overview

The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment essential to sugarcane processing and production. This role demands a proactive approach to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities for Mechanical Fitter Jobs in Kasama

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical equipment including pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, mills, valves, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and develop effective repair solutions.
• Participate in shutdown maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and prepare technical reports.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Diploma in Mechanical Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• Experience with industrial machinery and rotating equipment is advantageous.
• Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and operate shifts as required.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• High safety awareness and commitment to workplace safety.
