Position Overview: Emergent Agronomist Jobs in Lusaka

As an Emergent Agronomist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing agricultural productivity and market growth for emerging farmers in Lusaka Province. The role demands a blend of technical expertise and customer relationship management, focusing on delivering practical, measurable outcomes for farming communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert agronomic and technical advice on fertiliser use, crop nutrition, soil fertility, crop establishment, and best farming practices.
  • Organize and conduct farmer training sessions, field days, and workshops to elevate agricultural knowledge and productivity.
  • Establish, manage, and assess demonstration plots to illustrate effective agricultural solutions under local conditions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with farmers, farmer groups, input suppliers, NGOs, and other stakeholders within the agricultural value chain.
  • Drive sales growth by identifying market opportunities, promoting relevant products, and supporting customer needs.
  • Manage customer relationships and deliver after-sales support to ensure sustained satisfaction and retention.
  • Monitor crop performance throughout the growing season and provide actionable recommendations to overcome production challenges.
  • Conduct farm visits, field scouting, and crop assessments to detect nutrient deficiencies and agronomic issues.
  • Collect market intelligence and support initiatives aimed at market development and identifying emerging customer needs.
  • Assist with debt recovery by monitoring customer accounts and supporting collections aligned with company policies.
  • Prepare detailed reports on sales performance, demonstration outcomes, customer engagement, and market trends.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer support.
  • Contribute to planning and forecasting activities to support business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in crop nutrition, agronomy, or the fertiliser industry.
  • Strong expertise in crop production, soil fertility management, and plant nutrition.
  • Proven track record in sales and business development within the agricultural sector.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and farmer training skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to build and sustain robust stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively contributing within a team environment.
  • High standards of integrity and professionalism.
