Farm Manager

Job description

Mercy Touch Mission International is seeking a Farm Manager responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing all farm operations. The role covers day-to-day management and long-term development of the farm to ensure efficient, productive, and sustainable operations.

Position Details

• Department: Farming & Agriculture
• Reports To: Operations Manager and President
• Status: Full-Time
• The Farm Manager will oversee livestock and crop production, manage farm resources and equipment, supervise farm staff, implement best agricultural practices, and provide regular reports on farm operations, production, and performance

Qualifications and Requirements

• Zambian citizen with valid NRC
• Mature, born-again, Spirit-filled Christian committed to biblical values and active in a local church
• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• Certificate, Diploma, or higher qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Animal Husbandry, Crop Production, or related field
• Knowledge of agriculture, livestock management, agrochemicals, crop cultivation, and agribusiness practices
• Sound understanding of farm business management and profitability
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to operate a motorcycle and other farm vehicles/equipment
• At least three years practical experience in agriculture or farm supervision

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual farm plans and production schedules
• Prepare and monitor farm budgets and production targets
• Maintain accurate financial, livestock, crop, asset and inventory records
• Oversee crop and livestock production activities
• Purchase and manage farm inputs including seeds, fertilizers, feed and veterinary supplies
• Coordinate maintenance and repair of farm infrastructure, machinery and equipment
• Monitor quality and productivity of crops and livestock
• Identify, prevent and manage pests, diseases and agricultural risks
• Promote environmental stewardship and sustainable farming practices
• Supervise, mentor and support farmers and trainees
