We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mining Engineer on a contract basis to enhance our operations team and contribute to the efficient extraction and management of our mining resources. About the Mining Engineer Role As a Mining Engineer, you will play a critical role in planning, designing, and supervising limestone mining operations to ensure safe, sustainable, and cost-effective extraction processes. This position requires a professional who can develop both short-term and long-term mine plans aligned with production goals, while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities for Mining Engineer Jobs in Lusaka Plan, design, and oversee limestone mining operations to guarantee safety and efficiency. Develop mine plans that meet production targets, balancing short-term and long-term objectives. Monitor mining activities to optimize productivity, equipment use, and operational costs. Ensure full compliance with mining regulations, environmental policies, and company safety standards. Conduct geological and mining assessments to support reserve management and mine development. Prepare detailed production reports, budgets, and operational forecasts. Coordinate drilling, blasting, excavation, and haulage activities effectively. Engage with regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to statutory requirements. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mining operations. Qualifications and Experience Required Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized institution. Registration with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and the Engineering Registration Board (ERB). At least 3 years of proven experience in limestone mining operations. Strong expertise in open-pit mining methods, mine planning, and quarry management. Comprehensive knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental management systems. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
