Job description

About Mwabu

Mwabu is a leading African EdTech company transforming education and training in under-resourced and rural communities. We deliver online and offline digital learning solutions that combine curriculum-aligned content, hardware, data analytics, training, and long-term support. Our work spans governments, NGOs, donors, and private-sector partners across Zambia, and we plan to scale more widely across the region.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Sales & Marketing Manager to drive revenue growth, strengthen market presence, and build strategic partnerships. This role combines commercial leadership with social impact, supporting growth initiatives for Mwabu and its sister companies in the UK and South Africa.

The role is expected to expand but is initially part-time (up to 30 hours per week) with a blend of remote home working and attendance at the Mwabu offices in State Lodge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth across government, donor, NGO, and private sector markets
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities and strategic partnerships
  • Lead proposal development, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations
  • Develop and implement integrated sales and marketing strategies across the Mwabu Group
  • Strengthen Mwabu’s brand positioning as a leader in rural EdTech solutions
  • Represent Mwabu at stakeholder meetings, conferences, and industry events
  • Lead and support the sales and marketing teams across the Group
  • Track performance metrics, manage budgets, and report on business results

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Country Director, who will provide overall supervision, strategic guidance, performance management, and oversight of the role. The incumbent will work closely with the Country Director on day-to-day operations, project implementation, stakeholder engagement, and organizational priorities, ensuring alignment with Mwabu’s objectives and operational standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, or business development
  • Experience working with government institutions, NGOs, donors, or institutional clients
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation, education, and impact
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Why Join Mwabu?

  • Make a meaningful impact on education and development across Africa
  • Work with innovative and inclusive technology solutions
  • Engage with global development partners and government stakeholders
  • Be part of a mission-driven and growing organization
