About the Cook Position

As a cook at Graceal Lounge, you will play a crucial role in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring both speed and quality under pressure. You will be responsible for daily ingredient preparation, including cutting, marinating, and portioning, to support smooth kitchen operations before service begins. Your ability to maintain consistency while cooking grills, nshima, stews, and side dishes according to the Head Chef’s recipes will be essential.

Key Responsibilities for Cook Jobs in Chongwe Lusaka

• Prepare ingredients daily by cutting, marinating, and portioning before service
• Cook menu items to established standards, focusing on speed and consistency
• Follow recipes and portion sizes provided by the Head Chef to control food costs
• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, including cleaning workstations, washing dishes, and applying FIFO stock rotation
• Work split shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Be a resident of Chongwe to ensure reliable attendance

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of one year’s cooking experience in a busy restaurant or takeaway setting
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and work efficiently with fast hands
• Clean cooking habits and commitment to kitchen hygiene
• Grade 12 certificate and a valid Food Handler’s Certificate are mandatory
• Experience with Zambian and continental dishes will be considered an advantage
