Registered Nurse Jobs in Kalumbila – Mary Begg Health Services

Mary Begg Health Services (MBHS) is seeking experienced registered nurses to join our multidisciplinary team in Kalumbila, North West Province, Zambia. This opportunity offers a fixed-term contract for full-time employment within our General Nursing department. Registered nurse jobs in Kalumbila at MBHS provide a dynamic clinical environment where compassionate, ethical, and high-quality nursing care is paramount.

About the Role

As a registered nurse at MBHS, you will be the first clinical contact for patients visiting our clinic. You will conduct health histories, nursing assessments, and assist with various procedures across multiple departments including triage, outpatient, inpatient, occupational health, operating theatre, and emergency services. Working shifts with rotation across these areas, you will deliver patient-centered care that aligns with the General Nursing Council of Zambia’s Code of Conduct and MBHS Healthcare Standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, hygienic work environment following MBHS policies and healthcare standards.
  • Triage patients for urgent care and prioritize based on MBHS protocols.
  • Perform physical examinations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, blood smear testing, weight checks, and health histories for new patients.
  • Ensure accurate, legible nursing documentation and effective handovers during shift changes.
  • Monitor routine patient observations and develop nursing diagnoses to inform care plans in collaboration with attending doctors.
  • Assist medical doctors with clinical procedures and escalate any significant changes in patient health status.
  • Administer medications and injections, observing for adverse reactions and maintaining strict medication checks.
  • Manage medication stock levels and coordinate ordering to ensure availability.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, involving medical doctors as necessary.
  • Support patient discharge planning and liaise with general practitioners and pharmacists.
  • Adhere to infection control policies, including proper use of PPE and hand hygiene.
  • Provide support and counselling to patients and families following critical diagnoses or events.
  • Mentor junior nursing staff as directed by leadership.

Candidate Requirements

  • Diploma in Registered Nursing or equivalent qualification recognized in Zambia.
  • Current Practising Licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a registered nurse.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in computer skills relevant to nursing documentation and communication.
  • Diploma in Critical Care, Trauma, or Pediatric Nursing is an advantage.
