Job description

ECZ Poll Staff Recruitment 2026

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) wishes to engage 89,370 suitably qualified Zambians to work as Poll Staff countrywide during the 13th August 2026 General Election.

Reporting to: Constituency Returning Officer

Main Accountability: Conduct elections at a polling station.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guide voters to their respective polling station.
  • Verify the identity of voters in the register of voters.
  • Mark each voter’s thumb with indelible ink.
  • Issue ballot papers.
  • Direct voters where to cast their ballot papers.
  • Ensure the safety of ballot boxes.
  • Assist the Presiding Officer during vote counting at the close of polls.
  • Perform any other election duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with passes in English and Mathematics.
  • Registered voter in possession of a green National Registration Card.
  • Conversant with the local language spoken in the district of application.
  • Tertiary qualification will be an added advantage.

  • Non-partisan, sober-minded, honest and of high integrity.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work with limited supervision.
  • Self-driven and motivated.
