Key Responsibilities for Safety Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Develop, implement, and monitor the project HSE plan in accordance with client requirements, including ZEMA and the Ministry of Labour regulations.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks, site inductions, and comprehensive risk assessments for all site activities.
• Inspect the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), scaffolding, lifting gear, electrical safety measures, and work-at-height procedures to ensure compliance.
• Investigate and document all incidents and near misses, maintaining an accurate accident register.
• Collaborate closely with the client Safety Team, Zambia Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (ZIOSH), and Workers’ Compensation Fund (WCF) to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain thorough HSE documentation, including method statements, permits-to-work, and training records.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, or National Examination Board in Occupational Safety Health IGC/Diploma.
• Registration with ZIOSH (Zambia Institute of Occupational Safety & Health) is mandatory.
• At least three years of practical experience working on construction or engineering projects.
• Solid understanding of the Zambian Occupational Health and Safety Act, Cap 441, and related legislation.
• Immediate availability to commence work is essential.
