About the Role: Human Resources Officer Jobs in Kitwe
Reporting directly to the General Manager and Finance and Admin Head, the Human Resources Officer will oversee all facets of the employment lifecycle. Responsibilities include managing recruitment and onboarding, maintaining employee relations, administering HR processes, and supporting performance management. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with labor laws and fostering employee engagement initiatives that enhance company culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Support recruitment by posting job advertisements, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks. Facilitate smooth onboarding for new hires.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and workplace concerns. Mediate conflicts professionally and confidentially.
- HR Administration: Maintain accurate employee records using the HR Information System (HRIS) and manage documentation related to staffing, training, grievances, and performance evaluations.
- Performance Management: Assist with implementing appraisal systems, monitor employee progress, and support managers in developing improvement plans.
- Compliance: Ensure HR policies adhere to local and national labor laws and assist in updating the employee handbook accordingly.
- Benefits & Payroll: Support payroll processing and benefits administration, including leave tracking and responding to employee questions.
- Culture & Engagement: Organize employee engagement activities, team-building events, and wellness programs to promote a positive work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification or registration with a relevant HR professional body is preferred.
- Two to four years of experience in an HR Officer, HR Assistant, or comparable role.
- Strong knowledge of employment and labor laws as well as HR best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with HRIS or HRMS platforms such as Workday, BambooHR, or Gusto.
