About the Role

Reporting directly to the Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality Manager, the Environmental Health and Safety Officer will play a pivotal role in implementing and overseeing health, safety, and environmental programs. This full-time position demands a proactive approach to workplace safety and environmental stewardship, ensuring that Kamimbi Aqua Feed meets all regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities for Environmental Health and Safety Officer Jobs in Siavonga

• Implement and continuously monitor occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective measures.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure all employees use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly and consistently.
• Monitor adherence to company safety rules and statutory requirements.
• Deliver safety inductions and training sessions for employees and contractors.
• Organize toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety.
• Maintain and coordinate emergency response plans and drills.
• Monitor environmental compliance with local regulations and company standards.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, audits, and training activities.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs.
• Coordinate fire safety initiatives and ensure emergency equipment is regularly inspected and maintained.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) is an advantage.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in health, safety, and environmental roles.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations as well as environmental legislation.
• Proven experience in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
• Must be a registered member of the Zambia Occupational Safety and Health Association (ZOASH).
