About the Hygiene Promotion Specialist Role The successful candidate will spearhead the development and implementation of hygiene promotion strategies aimed at enhancing sanitation and hygiene practices across various settings, including communities, schools, and healthcare facilities. By leveraging participatory approaches, you will train and empower hygiene promoters, Community Champions, WASH Clubs, and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Committees to foster sustainable behaviour change. Key Responsibilities for Hygiene Promotion Specialist Jobs in Lusaka Design and implement comprehensive hygiene promotion and sanitation marketing strategies. Identify and recommend targeted interventions for hygiene improvement in communities, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities. Lead capacity-building sessions for hygiene promoters and community groups using participatory hygiene promotion methods. Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer to conduct school WASH mapping activities. Coordinate the execution of MHM initiatives and sanitation marketing campaigns. Monitor and document the adoption of positive hygiene behaviours to inform programme adjustments. Required Skills and Competencies Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent facilitation abilities. Experience in participatory community engagement techniques. Knowledge of child protection policies and practices relevant to community health projects. Proven reporting skills and ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or a related field, with practical experience in participatory health and hygiene education. Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in hygiene promotion and behaviour change interventions within international NGOs. Familiarity with coordination among Ministries of Health, Education, and Local Government to support hygiene initiatives. Demonstrated expertise in hygiene promotion for WASH projects and a solid understanding of national WASH and public health strategies.
