Occupational Health and Safety Institute (OHSI) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security established under the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 16 of 2025. The Institute has its main offices in Kitwe with branch offices in Solwezi and Lusaka, and offers occupational health and safety services throughout the country on an outreach basis.

The Institute is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Driver [1 Position – Lusaka Office].

Job Objective

To drive Institutional vehicles in order to facilitate mobility of officers, materials and/or equipment and ensure that they are in good condition at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be conversant with the operations mechanism of light vehicles and passenger buses, ensuring they are roadworthy, clean, insured and have valid road tax before use.
  • Ensure vehicles are driven on official duties only.
  • Ensure passengers take safety precautions, including wearing safety belts before any journey begins.
  • Deliver materials and personnel to instructed destinations while ensuring safety at all times.
  • Report any instance of mishap or accident to the Supervisor for timely action.
  • Ensure security of the vehicle at all times and park it only in a secured place when not in use.
  • Preferably be a Lusaka resident with excellent practical knowledge of Lusaka routes, neighborhoods and surrounding areas.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • PSV Driver’s License with eligibility to drive buses.
  • 5 years’ experience working as a driver with a reputable organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of Zambian traffic rules and RTSA regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with customer service orientation.
