Job description
Job Summary
We are seeking a committed and socially aware Social Safeguards Officer to ensure that all projects are implemented in a socially responsible manner. The role involves managing social risks, engaging with communities, and ensuring compliance with social safeguard policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor social impacts of projects and operations
- Develop and implement Social Management Plans (SMPs)
- Conduct social impact assessments and baseline studies
- Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and vulnerable groups
- Address community concerns, grievances, and conflicts effectively
- Ensure compliance with national and international social safeguard standards
- Support resettlement planning and livelihood restoration where applicable
- Prepare social safeguard reports and documentation
- Promote inclusive participation and stakeholder engagement
- Monitor labor practices and ensure ethical standards are upheld
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Human Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related social science field
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
- Experience in social impact assessments and community engagement
- Strong understanding of social safeguard policies and frameworks
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders
