About the Role: Senior Environmental Officer Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Environmental Coordinator, the Senior Environmental Officer-Monitoring will lead the implementation and management of environmental monitoring and measurement programs. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with national legislation, regulatory requirements, and Barrick’s environmental standards, supporting the company’s commitment to zero harm and sustainable legacy building.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring organisational adherence to environmental laws, permit conditions, and regulatory obligations.
• Developing, implementing, and enhancing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and compliance frameworks.
• Managing the Environmental Data Management System to facilitate accurate monitoring and measurement.
• Coordinating potable and environmental water monitoring programs aligned with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
• Maintaining water analysis databases with integrity, performing trend analysis, and producing detailed monitoring reports.
• Leading the site-wide water balance system’s implementation, calibration, and regular updates.
• Conducting environmental inspections, audits, and compliance assessments to proactively identify risks and corrective actions.
• Providing technical guidance and training on environmental monitoring to employees and contractors.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to align environmental systems with recognized standards such as ISO 14001.

Qualifications and Experience Required

To be considered for this senior environmental officer position in Kalumbila, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Mine Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least five (5) years of direct environmental management experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in an industrial or mining environment.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with regulatory authorities and managing Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
• Strong skills in environmental data collection, analysis, management, and statistical interpretation.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively in demanding operational settings.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in presentations and interpersonal interactions.
