About the Role: Logistics Specialist Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Logistic Coordinator, the Logistics Specialist will play a pivotal role in streamlining the movement of goods across borders while ensuring full adherence to international and local customs regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customs classifications, regulatory requirements, and facilitating efficient transportation through air, sea, road, and courier services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and coordinating the movement of goods from multiple countries using various transportation modes.
• Maintaining strong relationships with carriers to ensure compliance with company transport standards.
• Overseeing port clearance and container transportation to ensure timely and damage-free delivery with proper proof of delivery.
• Classifying commodities accurately using harmonized system (HS) codes for customs duty evaluation.
• Seeking lawful opportunities to optimize cash flow via VAT deferment applications and duty exemptions.
• Applying for Advance Tariff Rulings to reduce customs dispute risks with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
• Ensuring all import and export activities comply with relevant customs laws and regulations.
• Managing Customs CACP and AEO compliance to facilitate smooth border clearance and reduce congestion.
• Implementing new legislation and amendments to enhance border clearance services.
• Maintaining an organized document retention system for customs paperwork, permits, and audits.
• Coordinating with finance to ensure timely payments to ZRA.
• Monitoring business partners’ compliance with valid permits and contracts, fostering strong relationships with customs authorities, brokers, transporters, and agents.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

• Minimum Grade 12 school certificate.
• Diploma (ABMA) in customs clearance, Level 5 CIPS/CILT, or a related customs and transport qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Customs Professional or in a similar logistics role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cross-border goods transportation, customs laws, audits, regulations, and procedures.
• Valid Zambian driver’s license.
• Familiarity with international trade agreements and customs compliance best practices.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as database management.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Supply Chain Logistics and Tax teams.
• Strong understanding of the interactions between transporters, clearing agents, government agencies, and importers/exporters.
