Key Responsibilities for the Head of Human Resources Role
In this pivotal role, you will lead the HR function to align with G4S’s business objectives and uphold compliance with legal and group standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic HR Leadership: Collaborate with the executive team to integrate human resource initiatives with financial and operational plans. Lead and develop the local HR team to deliver results.
- Values & Culture: Serve as a role model for G4S core values, monitor organizational culture, and manage ethical concerns and whistleblowing with integrity.
- Mass Recruitment: Oversee comprehensive frontline workforce planning, high-volume recruitment, and executive screening to meet client demands efficiently.
- Talent & Development: Design and implement onboarding processes, performance management systems, and succession plans to strengthen long-term business capabilities.
- Employee & Labor Relations: Drive employee engagement, manage turnover, and lead negotiations with unions and stakeholders within the Zambian labor market.
- Health & Safety: Collaborate with health and safety specialists to mitigate risks, including firearms and vehicle safety, reducing operational incidents.
- Compensation & Benefits: Ensure jobs are accurately graded and compensation packages remain competitive locally.
Ideal Candidate Profile for Head of Human Resources Jobs in Lusaka
The successful candidate will bring a blend of strategic insight and practical experience, including:
- Experience: Minimum 8 years in HR, with at least 3 years leading HR functions for large workforces (1,000+ employees) in sectors such as security, logistics, manufacturing, or retail.
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Membership or certification with ZIHRM is highly advantageous.
- Legal Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of the Zambia Employment Code Act and local labor laws to ensure full compliance.
- Personal Attributes: A strategic thinker with operational determination, embodying agility, innovation, caring, and the highest standards of reliability and safety.
