About the Role – Electrician Jobs in Lusaka

As an Electrician within our real estate company, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical systems. You will ensure all electrical work adheres strictly to Zambian electrical regulations, Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) standards, and ZESCO requirements. This full-time position demands technical expertise, attention to safety, and a proactive approach to electrical system management.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fittings, and control systems in buildings and housing units.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical installations to ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose electrical faults and perform timely corrective repairs.
• Install and maintain lighting systems, sockets, circuit breakers, distribution boards, generators, and electrical appliances.
• Ensure compliance with ZESCO regulations and EIZ professional standards in all electrical works.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, layouts, and technical specifications accurately.
• Test electrical systems using appropriate tools and equipment to verify functionality.
• Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns and power faults.
• Install proper earthing and protection systems across all properties.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and materials used.
• Coordinate effectively with contractors, site supervisors, and property managers during projects.
• Adhere to occupational health and safety procedures at all times.
• Monitor electricity consumption and provide management with recommendations for energy-saving practices.
• Assist during inspections conducted by ZESCO and other regulatory authorities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 School Certificate with credits or better in English and Mathematics.
• Craft Certificate, Technician Certificate, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and possession of a valid EIZ practicing license where applicable.
• Thorough knowledge of ZESCO electrical connection and installation standards.
• Familiarity with Zambian wiring regulations and safety procedures.
• Minimum of 2 to 5 years of practical experience in electrical installation and maintenance, preferably in residential or commercial property settings.

Skills and Additional Requirements

• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical drawings.
• Excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit to work on construction and maintenance sites.
• Valid National Registration Card (NRC) or Passport.
• Sober-minded, disciplined, and responsive to emergency situations, including willingness to work beyond normal hours when necessary.
• Experience with solar systems, generators, or high-voltage installations is an advantage.
