Usangu Logistics is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Occupational Health & Safety Officer to enhance our HR & Administration team in Ndola, Copperbelt, Zambia. Position Overview

As a Health & Safety (OHS) Officer, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining a robust occupational health and safety framework. Your responsibilities will include creating and updating safety policies, conducting thorough risk assessments, and ensuring strict adherence to both legal requirements and company safety standards. You will also champion a proactive safety culture by organizing training programs and performing regular workplace inspections.

Key Responsibilities for Health Safety OHS Officer Jobs in Ndola

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) policies and procedures to meet evolving safety needs.
  • Provide expert guidance on workplace safety matters, including the safe use of machinery, handling hazardous materials, and managing environmental risks.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and establish preventative measures to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Organize and deliver comprehensive safety training sessions for employees and management teams.

  • Monitor the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety protocols rigorously.

  • Maintain meticulous safety records and generate statistical reports to inform management decisions.

Candidate Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
  • Certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or an equivalent qualification is advantageous.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a safety-focused role is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and training skills to effectively engage with all levels of staff.
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and remain composed under pressure.

Essential Competencies

  • Proficient in risk assessment and hazard identification techniques.
  • Skilled in incident investigation and accurate reporting.
  • Experienced in delivering safety training and raising awareness.
  • Demonstrated leadership with strong enforcement of safety standards.
  • Analytical thinker with excellent report writing skills.
