About the Role
As a driver at MBHS, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and cleanliness of company vehicles, ensuring all licenses, safety checks, and registrations are current and clearly displayed. You will transport staff and patients to various destinations, assist with the delivery and pickup of parcels and medical supplies, and respond promptly to emergency transfers. Adherence to the MBHS Code of Conduct and confidentiality agreements is mandatory at all times.
Key Responsibilities for Driver Jobs in Ndola
- Drive safely in compliance with Zambian RTSA regulations, maintaining a high standard of road safety at all times.
- Maintain and clean vehicles twice weekly, both inside and out, and conduct daily inspections to ensure vehicle safety and comfort.
- Keep all vehicle documentation such as registration, insurance, and safety certificates up to date and clearly displayed.
- Ensure vehicles are equipped with required safety items including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and breakdown warning devices.
- Accurately complete vehicle log books and maintain daily mileage and inspection records.
- Plan daily trip schedules efficiently, consolidating trips to optimize time and resources.
- Assist with the pickup and delivery of clinical stock, cold chain vaccines, and other medical supplies, coordinating with the Supply Chain Department and external partners.
- Transport MBHS staff for meetings and official duties to locations including Ndola, Solwezi, Kalumbila, Lusaka, and Kabitaka.
- Support administrative tasks such as delivering documents to regulatory offices and airport transfers for staff and visitors.
- Ensure all passengers wear seat belts before commencing travel and uphold safe driving practices at all times.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs promptly and complete incident reports within 24 hours if necessary.
- Purchase clinic and kitchen supplies as directed, submitting receipts to the Finance Department.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Minimum of Grade 12 certificate with a good general education background.
- Proficient spoken English communication skills.
- Valid Zambian driving license with the ability to drive safely and competently.
- Completion of a Level 2 first-aid course and annual driver competency training.
- Ability to read maps and understand directions accurately.
Professional Conduct and Customer Service
MBHS drivers are expected to demonstrate courteous and respectful behavior towards all clients, visitors, and staff. Upholding confidentiality regarding patient and staff information is critical. Drivers must adhere strictly to MBHS policies including uniform standards, sickness and absenteeism policies, and zero tolerance for alcohol consumption while on duty. Prompt reporting of any incidents or customer service issues is required.
